Norwegian Church Aid, NCA, has been present in Afghanistan since 1979; the organization is well known in the country; NCA is registered with the Government of Afghanistan, and enjoys good working relations with several line ministries of the Government. NCA is recognized by both Government agencies as well as Non Government Organizations as competent and committed partner.NCA's contribution to the wellbeing of Afghan society is recognizable. At the main office in Kabul NCA employs fifty local staff including two expatriates . The NCA Program has a portfolio of 75,963,000 NOK, allocated to the following thematic areas:
1. Water and Renewable Energy 2. Gender Equity and Non-Discrimination 3. Emergency preparedness with special attention for water and sanitation 4. Food security and Agricultural Development criteria for implementation are participation, equity and protection.
NCA is a facilitating organization, and most of the projects are implemented through Afghan partners. NCA has over the past years worked through a network of Afghan organizations and has contributed considerably to the capacity building efforts of partners in the network.NCA's role is to collaborate, facilitate and ensure quality of the work of its partners through project planning, budget control, implementation and monitoring of development projects and programs, thus, contributing to the transparency and accountability practices in the Civil Society.
NCA is assisting and will continue to assist in the building of civil society through strengthening partners and local institutions, enabling them to participate in democratic processes and to promote stability and peace. |
